“Pompéi : An Artlife” attempts to show the modernity of the Roman civilization and how its deeply linked to our Western culture.
In the various rooms you can admire more than 200 works including frescos and everyday objects presented in their original environment, a testament to the daily life of the era.
Buildings, everyday objects, the presence of running water, heat distribution and sewage: all surprisingly modern.
The Domus Pompeiana, which the exhibition is introducing to you here, is an perfect example of the houses of the time, the way they were fitted out and their incredible modernity. Their infrastructures, access to running water, heating systems and mains drainage are all here. You will walk through a reproduced villa with all its living spaces laid out as they were then, from the Atrium, portico, arches, bathrooms and the kitchen. |
