Arc de Triomphe

Arc de Triomphe

The Arc de Triomphe was commissioned by Napoleon for French soldiers and was finally completed in 1836 under the reign of Louis-Philippe. Before taking the elevator to the top of the Arc to experience the amazing city view, stand by the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, killed in the WWI who were never identified, added at the Arch's base in 1920. An eternal flame burns here to commemorate fallen soldiers. From the roof, looking eastwards, down the Champs Elysees avenue, toward the Louvre, Concorde square, the Tuileries Gardens. Looking westwards Neuilly and la Grande Arche de la Défense.
